Ricoh endorses the Taskforce on Nature-related Financial Disclosures (TNFD) and registers as TNFD Adopter
TOKYO, June 27, 2024 –Ricoh today announced its endorsement of Taskforce on Nature-related Financial Disclosures (TNFD)*1 recommendations, released in September 2023 to enable companies to assess, disclose and manage nature-related dependencies, impacts risks and opportunities, and its registration as a TNFD Adopter*2 in June 2024. Moving forward, Ricoh Group plans to conduct assessments on its dependency and impacts on natural capital in line with TNFD recommendations and begin disclosing information in the fiscal year 2024.
Ricoh Group defines its vision of a sustainable society as achieving a balance among the three Ps of Economy (Prosperity), Society (People), and Environment (Planet) – referred to as the "Three Ps Balance." In the context of the Environment (Planet), Ricoh aims to achieve a decarbonized and circular society. Recognizing the importance of biodiversity conservation to building a truly prosperous and sustainable society, Ricoh established its "Biodiversity Policy" in 2009 and has since been actively engaged in biodiversity conservation efforts.
Ricoh Group will also continue its contribution towards realizing international goals such as the " Kunming-Montreal Global Biodiversity Framework," aiming for Nature Positive*3 outcomes and zero deforestation, in addition to achieving target 15 of the Framework through TNFD-aligned information disclosure.
*1 Taskforce on Nature-related Financial Disclosures (TNFD): A market-led, science-based and government-backed initiative providing organizations with the tools to act on evolving nature-related issues. It was launched in June 2021 with the support of the G20 Sustainable Finance Working Group and with financial support from a number of governments and philanthropic foundations to provide a framework for managing and disclosing nature-related risks. In September 2023, TNFD released its final recommendations (v1.0) outlining frameworks for companies and financial institutions to identify, assess, manage, and disclose nature-related issues.
*2 TNFD Adopter: An organization that has committed to start making disclosures aligned with the TNFD Recommendations in its corporate reporting by fiscal year 2024 (or earlier) or by 2025.
*3 Nature Positive: To halt and reverse biodiversity loss, placing nature on a path to recovery.
